Abstract: On the basis of a vast amount of data and by applying both quantitative and qualitative methods of analysis,this paper presents a review of the economic performance achieved under Shanghai Municipality policy of promoting the develop-of pillar industries in the overall industrial adjustment process’Also presented are suggestions for further development of new and high tech industries.
